Cutting-Edge Skin Care: Learn About BBL

Rejuvenating your skin is quicker and easier with the noninvasive BroadBand Light (BBL™) system produced by Sciton®. The innovative BBL device is designed with a wide range of wavelengths emitted in rapid pulses, a combination that allows us to treat multiple skin problems at the same time.

Many patients who come to Gynecologic Surgery and Menopause Solutions have several concerns like age spots and spider veins. We can quickly eliminate both during the same appointment, restoring a vibrant complexion in as little as 15 minutes.

BBL Basics

Like a laser, the BBL uses light to treat cosmetic concerns. However, the two systems are quite different because lasers emit one concentrated beam of light, while BBL releases multiple wavelengths.

The wavelength determines the therapeutic results we can achieve, so BBL’s many wavelengths make the system incredibly versatile. We use the system’s Smart Filters™ to customize your BBL treatment, using the wavelength that meets your unique needs.

In addition to filtering wavelengths, we can adjust the spot size. This allows BBL to treat large areas quickly or to precisely target small issues like freckles.

BBL eliminates hyperpigmentation and visible veins

We can filter your BBL treatment to target hyperpigmentation and visible veins, correcting problems such as:

The BBL wavelength we use for this treatment is only absorbed by brown and red pigments, so it doesn’t harm the surrounding skin. As the pigmented cells absorb the light, they’re heated to a temperature that makes them break down.  You body naturally clears away the debris, and your imperfections are gone for good.

BBL tightens skin

The BBL system also emits infrared light energy that penetrates deep enough to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a protein that builds your skin’s foundation, providing the strength needed to maintain firm, wrinkle-free skin.

Unfortunately, as you get older, your skin produces less collagen. Over time, and with exposure to sunlight, the loss of collagen results in loose skin and wrinkles.

After your BBL treatment, new skin grows in that’s fortified with collagen. Your fresh skin is tighter and firmer, and any existing fine lines and wrinkles are diminished.

BBL permanently removes hair

Hair removal rounds out the cosmetic treatments available with BBL. The device permanently eliminates hair the same way it eliminates discolorations: by targeting the dark hair follicle. Light energy destroys the hair follicle, while leaving the surrounding tissues unharmed. Once the follicle is gone, it can’t grow more hair.

Get BBL benefits without downtime

Your BBL procedure is safe and gentle. Most patients don’t need an anesthetic, but if your skin is more sensitive, we can apply a topical product to ensure your comfort.

The length of your treatment depends on what problem and body area is being treated. Your session may be as short as 15 minutes for discolored areas on your face. It will take longer, however, if you’re having a large area of hair removed.

Your skin may be a little red afterward, but that goes away in a few hours. In the meantime, you can return to your normal activities.

If you’d like to explore how BBL can correct skin imperfections and restore a bright, youthful appearance, call Gynecologic Surgery and Menopause Solutions, or book an appointment online.
